Vintage Chinese Mahjong Bamboo Tile Set in Faux Leather Case
Description
A vintage Chinese Mahjong set featuring cream-colored bamboo tiles. The tiles display traditional Chinese characters for suits (dots, bamboos, characters/craks including 萬 for ten thousand, and numerals from one to nine), winds (東, 南, 西, 北), and dragons (紅中, 發財, 白板). Corresponding English labels and numerals (E, S, W, N, 1-9, RED, GREEN, WHITE) are also present. The set includes special flower and season tiles marked with English names such as “SPRING”, “SUMMER”, “AUTUMN”, “WINTER”, “ORCHID”, “BAMBOO”, “PLUM.B.”, and “CHRYS.”. The set is presented in a dark green, faux leather or vinyl-covered carrying case with a metal handle and clasps, lined with a light tan interior. Accessories include a set of white scoring sticks with red pips and two white dice. A light blue paper instruction booklet titled “DIRECTIONS OF PLAYING MAH-JONG” and “CHINESE GAME OF FOUR WINDS,” with illustrated motifs, is housed in the lid. The set appears complete.
