Description
An Andrew Hull for Cobridge ceramic stoneware grotesque Wally Bird jar and cover. This two-part glazed ceramic lidded vessel depicts a highly stylized, textured bird-like creature, possibly an owl or griffin, on a rectangular base. The design exhibits a whimsical or folk art style, featuring deeply molded details and a multi-colored palette of earthy browns, greens, blues, and creams. The underside of the unglazed base bears blue ink or marker notations ‘SS’, ‘TB’, and ’08’, along with an incised mark resembling ‘AH’ and some faint, illegible impressed text. The separation of its two parts is clearly intentional.
Approximately 7.5 inches (19 cm) tall.
