A Collection of Six Worcester James Giles Polychrome Enamel Teacups or Coffee Cans, circa 1765-70
Description
A collection of six white-bodied porcelain teacups or coffee cans, attributed to Worcester and decorated by James Giles, dating to circa 1765-70. Each cup features a simple loop handle and displays a variety of forms, including cylindrical, flared, and fluted examples. The diverse polychrome enamel decoration includes vibrant floral bouquets, East Asian-style landscape scenes with figures, architecture, and birds on fences. One cup is further adorned with gilt banding. The base of one cup clearly shows a blue square mark.
