Worcester First Period Leaf Vine Pattern Leaf-Shaped Pickle Dish, Circa 1765
Description
A First Period Worcester porcelain leaf-shaped pickle dish, featuring the ‘Leaf Vine’ pattern, circa 1765. This small, irregularly shaped ceramic dish features a lobed or ruffled rim, edged in underglaze blue. The white interior is decorated with a central blue floral design, possibly a carnation or chrysanthemum, flanked by smaller blossoms and foliate elements. The underside is white with an embossed leaf vein pattern and a raised, tear-drop shaped footrim. Within the footrim, there is a small, underglaze blue mark resembling a stylized ‘A’ or an arrow pointing left.
