Lot 117:
An 18th Century Lowestoft Porcelain Tea Bowl and Saucer, Two Bird Pattern
Description
An 18th Century Lowestoft porcelain tea bowl and saucer, painted in red and blue with the Two Bird pattern in Redgrave style. Both items feature polychrome decoration in an orientalist style with underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron-red enamels. The central motifs include stylized birds, floral sprays, and rockwork, with an additional insect detail on the saucer, all encircled by patterned borders. The underside of the saucer bears a small adhesive label marked “T15” and “14” (or “H”), likely an inventory or lot number; no other discernible manufacturer’s marks or inscriptions are present on either item.
