Lot 113:
A Three-Piece Meissen Porcelain Tea or Coffee Set
Description
A three-piece Meissen porcelain tea or coffee set, likely dating from the Rococo or Neoclassical period. The set comprises a fluted cup with a handle, a matching fluted tea bowl without a handle, and a larger scalloped oval dish or saucer. Each piece is adorned with scattered polychrome floral sprigs and gilded scalloped rims and foot rims. The undersides of all three items bear a consistent gilded, stylized leaf or feather-like mark, which appears to enclose a small letter or symbol such as ‘J’, ‘I’, or a cursive ‘f’. Faint impressed numerals, possibly ’30’ or ’80’, are also visible on the saucer’s base.
