A First Period Worcester 'Prunus Root' Fluted Tea Bowl and Saucer
Description
A two-piece porcelain tea service, comprising a fluted tea bowl and a matching scalloped, fluted saucer, both adorned with underglaze blue and white decoration. The central motif on both pieces is a gnarled tree, specifically known as the ‘Prunus Root’ design, with flowering branches and a small flying insect. The pieces bear a workman’s mark, consistent with the period 1753-60.
