Chinese Carved Cinnabar Lacquer Dish, Depicting Dragons
Description
A Chinese Carved Cinnabar Lacquer Dish, likely on a wooden base. This circular dish features deeply carved red lacquerware, displaying a traditional East Asian aesthetic. The central field depicts two dynamically intertwined dragons amidst auspicious cloud and fungi motifs. The central design is bordered by an octagonal band of stylized geometric and foliate patterns. It has a contrasting black lacquered rim and a black lacquered reverse, which exhibits some reddish-brown mottling. A white sticker with handwritten text “8704 P” is affixed to the rim, and an indistinct rectangular label is present on the reverse. A metal wire hanging mechanism is attached.
