Edwardian Silver Topped Cut Glass Scent Bottle, London 1905
Description
An Edwardian Silver Topped Cut Glass Perfume Scent Bottle, hallmarked London 1905. The square-bodied bottle is crafted from clear cut glass, featuring intricate geometric cutting along its edges and etched botanical motifs of grapevines and leaves on the main body. It contains an amber-colored liquid. The bottle is fitted with a matching faceted stopper, also displaying floral etching. The neck is adorned with a heavily tarnished Silver collar, which includes a hinged cap and ornate embossed decoration. Close inspection of the collar reveals discernible hallmarks, including a lion passant, a crowned leopard’s head for the London assay office, and a date letter ‘e’, strongly indicating British sterling silver manufacture from 1905. The overall design is consistent with late 19th to early 20th-century period.
