Victorian Silver Paten, Dated 1843/1845
Description
A Victorian silver paten or communion plate. This round metallic dish features a central engraved sunburst motif on its top surface. Within the sunburst, the text ‘V.A.’ is visible above a date, likely ‘1843’ or ‘1845,’ with additional, less distinct characters below. The underside of the item’s raised central section is stamped with a series of hallmarks, including a crown, a small animal-like stamp, a letter (possibly ‘B’ or ‘P’), and the number ‘900,’ indicating a silver fineness of .900.
