Description
An Antique Chinese Bronze Daoist Figure on Small Teapot, This lidded teapot, cast in bronze, exhibits an aged dark brown patina with lighter metallic highlights on raised areas. The vessel is rendered in a detailed East Asian, specifically Chinese, style, featuring elaborate relief decoration on the body depicting a robed figure alongside a mythical dragon. The domed lid is adorned with a spiral motif culminating in a zoomorphic finial, and its perimeter, along with a band on the teapot’s shoulder, is decorated with numerous relief castings of traditional Chinese square-holed cash coins. The underside bears an impressed seal mark containing indistinct Chinese characters.
