A Pair of Victorian Sterling Silver Repoussé Opera Glasses
Description
A pair of antique opera glasses or binoculars, crafted from sterling silver. Visible British hallmarks include the lion passant, crown, anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and a date letter ‘y’, indicating a late Victorian period, likely 1898. The barrels are ornately decorated with high-relief scrolling foliate designs, consistent with repoussé work. One eyepiece rim is marked “VIE PRIX” (Old Prize/Price) and “PARIS”, while text on the other is partially obscured. The lenses are present.
