A Pair of Flow Blue Ceramic Pitchers, Late 19th/Early 20th Century
Description
A pair of ceramic pitchers, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, decorated in the Flow Blue style. The taller pitcher, possibly creamware or porcelain, features a bulbous lower body, a narrow neck, an applied handle, and a spout. It is decorated with a dense white and cobalt floral pattern, overlaid with prominent gilded motifs of an exotic bird. The base shows an indistinct circular impressed mark and a small blue dot. The smaller pitcher is also ceramic, presenting a more rustic, organic form with a ruffled rim and an applied handle. Its decoration is a rich flow blue with a raised, possibly molded, botanical or floral design.
