Lot 293:
A Collection of Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Ginger Jars and Other Ceramic Vessels, Late 19th to 20th Century
Description
This lot comprises a diverse collection of approximately seventeen glazed ceramic or porcelain vessels. The collection includes numerous lidded jars (commonly referred to as ginger jars), pitchers, a creamer, a teapot, a mug, and a small hexagonal lidded box. The styles exhibited are varied, predominantly featuring East Asian-inspired decoration such as blue and white floral and scenic motifs, including a landscape with a castle on one large jar. Other pieces display polychrome floral patterns reminiscent of Imari or Kutani ware. Further items include solid dark blue and dark green glazes, and a rustic orange-brown lidded teapot. The material across the collection appears to be glazed earthenware or porcelain. A white sticker displaying the number “50” is visible on one blue and white lidded jar. The styles suggest a mix of pieces likely dating from the late 19th to 20th centuries.
