Description
A Chinese four-panel folding room screen, dating to the 20th Century, constructed from dark-stained or lacquered wood. Each panel features an upper section with intricate geometric openwork carvings incorporating figural and floral motifs, above a mid-section of carved and recessed red-toned elements. The lower section of each panel presents a black lacquered ground with hand-painted polychrome scenes depicting flora, objects, and possibly insects. The panels are joined by brass-toned hinges.
