A Collection of Five Wedgwood Ceramic Collector's Plates, Varied Themes
Description
A collection of five Wedgwood ceramic collector’s plates, manufactured by Wedgwood (founded 1759). The collection comprises plates with varied themes, four of which are fully visible. One plate depicts an Avro Lancaster bomber with military crests. Another portrays William Shakespeare surrounded by named characters such as Falstaff and Shylock, bearing the inscription ‘A Sweet Swan of Avon’. A third illustrates various historical transport vehicles and machinery. Two plates are identified as calendar plates, consistent with “Wedgwood Old English Calendar” examples: one with a botanical ‘THE FRUIT GARDEN’ design dated ‘1992’, and another identified by a label on its original box as a ‘CALENDAR PLATE’ from ‘1980’. The plates are accompanied by Wedgwood branded boxes.
