Description
A Japanese Meiji Period Imari-Style Cobalt Blue Porcelain Peacock Charger. This large, circular decorative plate features an elaborate polychrome enamel and gilt decoration on the front. A peacock is depicted perched on a flowering tree, possibly cherry or plum blossom, against a deep blue background. The wide rim is extensively adorned with gilded floral, foliate, and butterfly motifs, incorporating raised enamel accents. The reverse displays a creamy white glaze with an unglazed foot rim. A modern wire hanger is attached for display.
