ANVIL German Arched-Top Mantel Clock with Chimes, Early 20th Century
Description
An ANVIL German arched-top mantel clock with chimes, dating to the early 20th century. The clock features a dark-stained wooden case, likely oak, with an arched top. The front presents a brass-colored dial with black Arabic numerals. The dial is marked ‘MADE IN GERMANY’ below the 12 position and ‘ANVIL’ below the 6. The internal brass and steel mechanism, visible through the hinged rear door, is equipped with chime rods and bears an ‘ANVIL’ mark on a small plate. Adhered to the inside of the door is a green paper label titled ‘In a Clock QUALITY should be the first consideration,’ featuring an ‘ANVIL’ logo, the subtitle ‘A Few Hints,’ and care instructions, concluding with ‘ANVIL CLOCKS.’
