An Early 20th Century A.P. Jordan & Co. Grayton Street Works Wolverhampton Safe
Description
An early 20th Century safe by A.P. Jordan & Co., Grayton Street Works, Wolverhampton. This vintage industrial-style strongbox is constructed from black-painted iron or steel. The front door features a central elliptical brass plaque engraved with “GRAYTON STREET WORKS”, “A. P. JORDAN & Co.”, and “WOLVERHAMPTON”, flanked by a brass turn handle and a keyhole escutcheon marked “IMPROVED INVIOLABLE LOCK”. Two robust external hinges are visible on the right side of the door. The interior reveals a single, removable, key-lockable small drawer with a brass pull handle. Auction inventory stickers “69” and “8857” are affixed to the top left of the door.
