A Collection of Four Cased Sheffield Silver-Plated Cutlery Sets, 19th/Early 20th Century
Description
This lot comprises a collection of four cased sets of antique or vintage cutlery, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, with several components attributed to Sheffield manufacture. The collection includes a two-piece carving set presented in a mottled fabric case. A two-piece fish server set features an elaborately engraved knife blade and is housed in a dark blue velvet-lined box. Also present is a large canteen containing twelve knives and twelve forks, housed in a cream satin-lined box, with a visible marking “PAT. NO. 18XX” inside the lid. The collection is completed by a smaller two-piece serving set featuring intricately carved handles, consistent with bone or ivory, presented in a patterned cardboard box with “ART. NO.” visible on its exterior. All cutlery handles are cream-colored, consistent with ivory, bone, or celluloid, while the blades and tines are silver-toned metal, likely silver-plated.
