A 19th Century Basketweave Pattern Compressed Powder Flask with Brass Mounts
Description
A 19th-century gunpowder flask of pear-shaped form, constructed from a compressed natural material in a light brown tone. The body is decorated throughout with a molded diamond-quilted basketweave pattern. The flask is fitted with a brass nozzle and a spring-loaded dispensing mechanism. A small white rectangular adhesive label is applied to the neck, bearing the handwritten digits 12870. A larger white rectangular adhesive label is applied to the main body, printed with the text SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS, LOT, 258, and the number 01132502626.
