An American Mahogany-Veneered Sharp Gothic Steeple Mantel Clock by Ansonia
Description
An American steeple mantel clock of sharp gothic form, produced by the Ansonia Clock Company. The mahogany-veneered case features a central pointed gable flanked by two turned wooden finials on rectangular plinths, standing on a stepped rectangular base. The circular cream-painted dial displays black Roman numerals and a minute track, signed Ansonia at the centre and U.S.A. beneath the arbor. Two winding holes indicate a twin-train mechanical movement. The lower section of the glazed door features a decorative glass tablet with a polychrome illustration of two birds in a marshy landscape. A small inventory sticker is present on the front glass.
