Late 19th-Century Gothic Revival Ebonised Wood Steeple Mantel Clock
Description
A late 19th-century Victorian ebonised wood ‘steeple’ mantel clock in the Gothic Revival style. The case features a sharp-pointed pediment flanked by two turned finials. The glazed front door is decorated on its lower half with a transfer-printed foliate design, which partially obscures the brass pendulum visible behind it. The circular white-painted dial features black Roman numerals and two winding apertures, indicating a two-train mechanical movement for time and strike. A small white adhesive label is present on the dial with the handwritten numerals 12673. The design is similar to the Jet model produced by the W.L. Gilbert Clock Company.
