A Sheffield Silver-Plated and Ivorine Handled Canteen of Cutlery
Description
An extensive silver-plated canteen of cutlery, presented in a two-tier polished timber case featuring flush-mounted brass side handles and a vacant brass shield-shaped cartouche on the lid. The case is constructed with visible dovetail joints at the corners. The interior is lined with brown felt and contains fitted, labelled compartments for a multi-piece service. The collection includes table knives and dessert knives with off-white ivorine handles, alongside a three-piece carving set consisting of a knife, fork, and sharpening steel mounted within the lid. The silver-plated flatware comprises table forks, dessert forks, table spoons, soup spoons, dessert spoons, tea spoons, and a large soup ladle. The knife blades are stamped with the marks STAINLESS and SHEFFIELD; a maker’s mark is present but is not clearly legible.
