A Pair of Lovatts Langley Mill Art Pottery Vases
Description
A pair of early 20th-century Lovatts of Langley Mill art pottery vases. Each vase is of ovoid form featuring a flared rim and a pedestal foot. The exterior bodies are finished in a glossy dark olive-brown glaze, decorated with hand-applied tube-lined floral motifs. The decoration depicts white flowers with yellow centres and surrounding green foliage, resembling wood anemones. The interiors and the foot rims are finished in a contrasting turquoise glaze. The underside of one vase is marked with a hand-painted house symbol consisting of a chevron over a square, alongside the pattern number 1252, the letter F, and an X. A faint impressed circular mark is also present on the foot rim.
