A Ceramic Model of a Shire Horse in Harness with a Wooden Farm Cart
Description
A large decorative model featuring a heavy draught horse, characteristic of a Shire horse, pulling a traditional wooden two-wheeled farm cart. The horse is constructed from ceramic with a high-gloss dark brown glaze, featuring white feathered legs and a white blaze to the face. It is fitted with a black harness detailed with brass-tone metal studs and metal link chains that attach to the wooden shafts. The accompanying cart is a rustic wooden dray with two spoked wheels and a natural timber finish. The set is in the style of mid-20th-century British ceramic models by manufacturers such as Beswick or Melba Ware; however, no factory marks are visible.
