Late Victorian Mahogany Commode or Nightstool
Description
A late Victorian mahogany commode or nightstool, constructed with a warm, polished mahogany finish. The piece features a rectangular solid mahogany hinged lid with an inset central panel. The carcass is supported by four short, out-swept legs and includes two side handles with turned baluster supports and scrolled terminals. The lid opens on metal hinges to reveal a fitted wooden interior housing a white ceramic commode liner with a central removable circular lid. A modern white rectangular adhesive inventory label, possibly reading 12672, is present on the front right-hand side of the main body.
