A Vintage Two-Tone Portable Automatic Record Player
Description
This portable automatic record player is characteristic of mid-20th century British manufacture. The wooden cabinet is covered in two-tone Rexine, featuring a light blue base and a patterned cream-coloured lid and front panel. The unit is fitted with a vertically-striped fabric speaker grille on the front. To the right of the grille are three cream-coloured plastic control knobs with gold-coloured centres. The unit bears two red and gold-coloured badges, one to the inner lid and one to the front panel, which are characteristic of the Dansette brand. The interior features a white plastic BSR (Birmingham Sound Reproducers) automatic record changer mechanism with a tonearm and overarm. The player is equipped with a power cord and a modern UK three-pin plug.
