Large Glazed Ceramic Elephant Figurine with Raised Trunk
Description
A large glazed ceramic elephant figurine, realistically modelled in a dynamic walking pose with its trunk raised. The piece features a variegated brown glaze with naturalistic tonal transitions. The tusks are constructed from a separate off-white matte material. The underside of the piece is incised with the numbers 370 and 27 and retains a gold-tone triangular foil label featuring a circular logo with a character C and two lines of text. The form and incised model numbers are consistent with mid-20th century European animal figurines, specifically those attributed to Royal Dux or the Italian studio of Guido Cacciapuoti.
