Late Victorian Oak Cased Bracket Style Mantel Clock
Description
An oak cased mantel clock of bracket form, likely dating to the late 19th century. The case is constructed from oak and features an arched pediment inset with a decorative gilt-effect relief-moulded panel depicting foliate and scroll motifs. The dial is flanked by fluted pilasters and the case sits upon a tiered base. The square brass dial is adorned with ornate gilt-metal corner spandrels and features a silvered chapter ring with Roman numeral hour markers and an outer track of Arabic numerals at five-minute intervals. The centre of the dial has a matted brass finish and contains a single winding aperture located near the four o’clock position. The clock is accompanied by a separate brass T-bar winding key. No maker’s marks are visible on the dial or the movement as presented.
