A Large Detailed Display Model of the Royal Navy Battleship HMS Prince of Wales
Description
A professionally constructed large-scale display model of the King George V-class battleship HMS Prince of Wales. The hull is finished in a multi-tone paint scheme featuring a grey superstructure and upper hull, a black boot-topping line, and a red-oxide finish below the waterline. The main deck is finished in a natural wood tone. The model accurately represents the ship’s armament configuration, including two quadruple 14-inch turrets and one twin 14-inch turret in the superimposed forward position. Additional details include twin 5.25-inch secondary gun mounts, anti-aircraft ‘pom-pom’ batteries, an intricate bridge superstructure, funnels with grill detailing, masts with wire rigging, and ship’s boats. The model is presented on a black display stand. To the centre of the stand is a rectangular nameplate inscribed BRITISH BATTLESHIP PRINCE OF WALES. Accompanying the nameplate is a replica ship’s badge featuring a naval crown over a circular frame containing a red St George’s cross and the Prince of Wales’s feathers. A small white auction lot sticker marked 501 is present on the port side of the hull.
