A Pair of Beswick Ceramic Bird Figurines, Pigeon and Barn Owl
Description
This lot comprises two glazed ceramic bird figurines produced by Beswick Pottery, England. The first figurine depicts a pigeon, Model No. 1383, in a standing pose finished in grey and blue-toned glazes with iridescent green highlights on the neck feathers. It is set upon a naturalistic multi-coloured base. The underside features a circular black backstamp reading BESWICK ENGLAND and incised marks BESWICK ENGLAND 1383. The second figurine is a barn owl finished in brown, cream, and white glazes, perched on a textured base. The base is marked with a circular black backstamp for BESWICK ENGLAND and a hand-painted red decorator’s mark 15.
