A West German stoneware Rumtopf jar
Description
A large stoneware Rumtopf jar of bulbous form, featuring two scroll-shaped handles and a flared rim. The exterior body is finished in a textured tan-coloured oatmeal glaze, with a contrasting dark brown glaze to the interior and rim. The vessel is decorated with relief-moulded script reading Rumtopf and a fruit motif including a large red cherry or plum and a cluster of dark blue grapes with green foliage. A small adhesive lot tag numbered 9754 is attached to the shoulder.
Height: approximately 25 – 30 cm.
