A Pair of Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Tea Bowls
Description
A pair of small, hemispherical tea bowls or wine cups crafted from white porcelain. Each vessel is decorated on the exterior in overglaze fencai (famille rose) enamels with a large pink peony blossom, green and turquoise foliage, and a small bird perched upon a slender iron-red branch. The interior of each bowl is glazed white and remains undecorated. The decorative motifs and enamel palette are characteristic of late 19th-century to mid-20th-century production. The recessed bases are glazed white and show no maker’s or reign marks. A modern paper label is attached to one bowl with the handwritten numeral 6 and the Chinese characters for fencai (粉彩).
