A late 19th or early 20th century mahogany twin pedestal desk
Description
A twin pedestal desk constructed from mahogany or mahogany-veneered hardwood with a dark finish. The desk follows a traditional nine-drawer arrangement featuring a long central frieze drawer flanked by two shorter drawers, with three graduated drawers in each pedestal. The drawer fronts are fitted with brass swan-neck handles on shaped backplates and central keyholes. The top contains an inset green leather writing surface with decorative gilt tooling. The piece is raised on ogee bracket feet. The construction and style suggest a late Victorian or Edwardian reproduction of a Georgian design. No maker’s marks or labels are visible.
