An Antique Singer Hand-Crank Sewing Machine with Bentwood Case
Description
An antique hand-crank sewing machine manufactured by the Singer Manufacturing Co. The machine is constructed with a black-enamelled cast iron body featuring elaborate gold-toned decorative decals with scrollwork motifs. The arm of the machine is marked with the inscriptions The Singer Manufacturing Co. and SINGER in gold-toned lettering. The unit is mounted on a rectangular wooden base and is operated via a manual hand-crank mechanism with a spoked metal flywheel. It is accompanied by a matching bentwood dome-top carrying case made of wood, which features a curved wooden handle and the SINGER brand name in large gold-toned characters on the exterior.
