The collection features fans with guards and sticks crafted from various materials including carved and pierced bone or ivory, wood, and gilded components. Decorative techniques observable across the group include intricate fretwork, hand-painting with floral and figurative motifs, and repoussé metalwork. One fan guard is decorated with hand-painted characters reading ESPAÑA. Another example displays guards with iridescent shell or mother-of-pearl inlay and decorative metal overlays.
