Two late 19th-century carved meerschaum smoking pipes in fitted cases
Description
Two antique smoking pipes crafted from carved meerschaum, each presented in a custom-contoured, hard-shell case. The first pipe features a bowl intricately carved in high relief in the form of a male head wearing a turban, joined by a white stem and metal ferrule to a curved, translucent amber-coloured mouthpiece. The second pipe’s bowl is detailed with a high-relief carving of a hunting scene depicting a hound attacking a stag amidst foliage and trees, finished with a curved amber-coloured mouthpiece. Both items are housed in their respective original cases with deep blue velvet-lined interiors. One case bears a small white adhesive label with the handwritten characters 8814.
