Description
A collection of novelty glazed earthenware teapots featuring transfer-printed historical and legendary themes, attributed to James Sadler. The assortment includes a cottage-shaped teapot inscribed with the text Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest, decorated with scenes of figures in a forest setting. Another example of faceted hexagonal form depicts various historical military uniforms, including a member of a Highland regiment in tartan and a red-coated officer. Two additional hexagonal teapots show maritime scenes and Tudor-style figures. Each piece features a domed lid with a gold-toned finial and gilt-style accents to the handle and spout.
