National Panasonic DR48 Communications Receiver
Description
This National Panasonic DR48 is a professional-grade multi-band communications receiver produced by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. The unit is constructed with a textured black plastic and metal casing featuring a front-facing speaker grille. Dating from the late 1970s, this specific model was intended for the European market, evidenced by the tuning dial which lists stations such as BBC R.2, DLF, Lahti, France 1, Oslo, and Luxembourg. It offers extensive coverage across LW, MW, and seven shortwave bands from 1.6 MHz to 30 MHz. The receiver incorporates a dual display system comprising a large horizontal analogue tuning scale and a central digital frequency counter. The front panel is equipped with a wide range of professional controls, including a large dual-concentric main tuning knob with push fast and pull slow functionality, alongside rotary controls for volume, bass, treble, BFO pitch, AM RF gain, and antenna trimming. An analogue signal strength and battery indicator is positioned on the left. Functional toggle switches include settings for FM AFC, bandwidth selection, and an automatic noise limiter. Front-mounted connection points are provided for an external speaker, record out, and auxiliary input. The manufacturer name is clearly visible on a silver-toned badge, and the model designation is printed on the upper right of the control panel.
