Lot 2:
Victorian Mahogany Two-over-Three Chest of Drawers
Description
This Victorian mahogany chest of drawers is designed in a traditional two-over-three arrangement, comprising two short drawers over three long, graduated drawers. The chest is built with characteristic rounded front corners and a solid plinth base. The top features rounded front edges. Each drawer front is finished with a subtle bead moulding and is fitted with turned mahogany knobs. There are central inset keyholes on each drawer, some of which feature simple circular metal escutcheons. Although internal construction details such as dovetail joints are not visible in the provided images, they are standard for cabinetry of this era. The primary timber is mahogany, likely used as a veneer on the drawer fronts and top. Secondary timbers for the linings and backboard are not visible.
