A Pair of Mid-20th Century Painted Chalkware Figurines of Classical Young Women
Description
This pair of mid-20th-century decorative figurines depicts a young woman in a classical-style pose. Each figure is shown standing on an integral rocky base, wearing a draped, sleeveless dress with light blue polychrome decoration. The figures are modelled with blonde hair and their heads tilted slightly downwards and to one side. They are constructed from painted chalkware or a similar ceramic composite with a matte finish. No manufacturer marks or signatures are visible on the exterior surfaces. One figurine features a small white adhesive label on the right arm with the handwritten characters 9719.
