Lot 423:
An Assortment of Horological, Scientific, and Utility Objects Including a Fowler's Calculator and a Brass Button Stick
Description
This collection comprises various scientific, military, and domestic items. The primary scientific instrument is a circular slide rule, identified by the dial markings as a Fowler’s Calculator. It is constructed from a silver-toned metal, likely nickel-plated, and features multiple concentric logarithmic scales and side-mounted adjustment knobs. The calculator is housed in its original square, black textured protective case.
The horological component consists of an open-face pocket watch with a yellow metal case. The white enamel dial is set with black Arabic numerals and includes a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o’clock position.
The military utility item is a brass button stick, traditionally used for polishing uniform buttons. It is engraved with the initials J.R.O. and features a long central slot, two circular apertures of varying sizes, and a scalloped outer edge.
The pewterware includes three pieces: two casters with different perforation patterns and a matching open cylindrical holder or napkin ring, all featuring stepped circular bases and unadorned bodies.
Additionally, the lot includes a small decorative pedestal ornament consisting of a bi-coloured sphere in brown and cream, embellished with a small red heart and mounted on a brass-toned pedestal base.
