L.N.E.R. Scarborough Railway Poster by Edmund Oakdale, Rotunda Museum Edition
Description
A printed travel poster for Scarborough, North Yorkshire, based on an original design by Edmund Oakdale for the London and North Eastern Railway (L.N.E.R.). The artwork features a vibrant beach scene with figures in 1930s period swimwear and clothing, viewed from an elevated perspective. The main title “SCARBOROUGH” is printed in large block letters, accompanied by the slogan “IT’S QUICKER BY RAIL” and the instruction “Full Information from any L.N.E.R Office or Agency”. The bottom margin is inscribed with “ROTUNDA MUSEUM, DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM AND AMENITIES, SCARBOROUGH”, identifying this as a reproduction published by the museum. An artist’s signature is visible in the upper right corner of the illustration. The item is printed on paper and is currently housed in a clear plastic protective sleeve.
