Myles Birket Foster (1825-1899), The Hayfield, Large Chromolithograph
Description
A large-scale colour print after a watercolour by Myles Birket Foster (1825-1899), titled The Hayfield. The composition depicts a bucolic rural scene with a group of labourers, including women and children, gathering and stacking hay in a rolling landscape. The artwork features the artist’s BF monogram in the lower-left corner of the plate. Below the image margin on the left is a printed publication line. The print is housed under glass with a wide gold-toned mount in a substantial and ornate gilded composition frame featuring scrolled foliate corners. An auction lot sticker numbered 9627 is attached to the lower section of the mount. A yellow tape measure is visible at the top centre for scale, but does not provide a complete measurement of the item.
