Description

This group of miniature medals represents the First World War campaign trio colloquially known as Pip, Squeak and Wilfred. The set includes a bronze 1914 Star with a central scroll inscribed 1914, complete with a ribbon clasp dated 5TH AUG – 22ND NOV 1914. The British War Medal is a silver-coloured disc with the profile of King George V on the obverse and a mounted figure on the reverse. The Victory Medal is a bronze disc depicting a winged figure of Victory on the obverse and the words THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914-1919 on the reverse. The medals are swing-mounted onto a pin-back metal bar. The ribbons are made of silk in their respective campaign colours. As is standard for miniature medals of this period, they are not named.
