A King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment Officer's Home Service Helmet Plate
Description
An officer’s pattern Home Service helmet plate for the King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, dating from the period 1902 to 1952. The plate is constructed from gilt metal in the form of a universal eight-pointed star, surmounted by a Tudor crown. The central circular device features a laurel wreath surrounding a garter inscribed with the regimental title Royal Lancaster. At the centre of the garter is a red velvet ground featuring a raised lion in relief. The reverse of the plate displays the gilt finish and is fitted with a horizontal pin and two wire loops for attachment to a cloth helmet. A small white adhesive tag with the number 9703 is present on the front left side.
