Lot 248:
A Collection of Napoleonic War Period Hand-Painted Military Miniatures
Description
A collection of hand-painted military miniatures depicting various figures from the Napoleonic Wars period. The subjects represent several European military forces including the French Grande Armée, identified by blue uniforms with white lapels and shako headgear, and British or Coalition infantry in red coats with white crossbelts. Specialized military roles are represented by a figure in a green uniform, characteristic of a rifleman or light infantry unit, and a soldier wearing a bearskin cap associated with elite Grenadier units. The group also includes a standard-bearer with a blue and white flag and a civilian woman in early 19th-century dress. The figures are mounted on individual circular or oval scenic bases. A small white circular label with the handwritten number 9703 is present on one base. No manufacturer marks are visible on the exterior surfaces.
