A Collection of Hand-Painted British Army Military Miniature Figures, Anglo-Zulu War Era
Description
A collection of hand-painted military miniature figures depicting personnel of the British Army from the late 19th-century colonial period, specifically characteristic of the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879. The group includes a standard-bearer in a red tunic and blue trousers with a white pith helmet, carrying a Union Flag. Also included are two infantrymen in red tunics and dark trousers, wearing white pith helmets and armed with Martini-Henry rifles, alongside a Highland bagpiper in a green doublet, kilt, and pith helmet. Each figure is set upon an integral scenic base depicting grassy or rocky terrain. Three figures are mounted on circular, polished hardwood plinths, while one infantryman is mounted on a rectangular hardwood plinth. The circular base of one advancing infantryman bears a white adhesive label with the handwritten inventory number 9703. No other maker marks or signatures are visible on the exterior surfaces.
