A Set of Six Vintage Hand-Painted Lead British Infantry Toy Soldiers
Description
A set of six hand-painted lead toy soldiers depicting British infantry in full marching order, dating from the early 20th century. The collection comprises one officer or non-commissioned officer and five infantrymen. The officer figure is depicted in a commanding pose holding a swagger stick, wearing black boots and a peaked cap with a red band. The remaining figures are infantrymen wearing dark blue tunics with red-banded peaked caps, each equipped with a rifle, tan-coloured webbing, and a backpack. The figures are mounted on integral oval-shaped bases finished in green paint. These items are characteristic of the hollow-cast lead figures produced by makers such as Britains during the mid-20th century.
